Main Symposia Speakers
Dr. Zhipeng Ning currently serves as a Programme Manager in Chinese medicine at the College of Life Sciences and Technology, School of Professional and Continuing Education, at The University of Hong Kong. He earned his PhD from the School of Chinese Medicine at The University of Hong Kong and subsequently underwent Postdoctoral training at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Throughout his doctoral studies, Dr. Ning established a biological connection between adiponectin and acupuncture analgesia. He verified the involvement of adiponectin-adiopR2-AMPK pathway in acupuncture analgesia at the spinal level, shedding light on a non-neurotransmitters-mediated biological mechanism underlying acupuncture analgesia. Dr. Ning's research suggested that patients with decreased adiponectin levels, such as those with obesity and type 2 diabetes, may experience enhanced pain and display a lower response to acupuncture analgesia.
