Prof. Liu Baoyan is engaged in long-term clinical research of traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture and the innovative application of big data in the field of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). He has been committed to researches on clinical evaluation methods and techniques of TCM for many years, put forward a clinical research paradigm with characteristics of TCM, developed a TCM clinical research information sharing system, proposed personalized diagnosis and treatment evaluation methods based on syndrome differentiation, as well as led clinical studies on acupuncture treatment for more than 10 projects (e.g. pelvic organ, dysfunction), with over 10 papers published on famous journals, such as JAMA and Annals of Internal Medicine. More than 200 related papers in total were published. He received the second prize for national scientific and technological progress for leading the clinical research on integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment for SARS and the development of the TCM clinical research information sharing system. He also received awards for the paradigm, methods, and practice of real-world clinical research, the construction and application of the acupuncture clinical research system, and the standardization of acupuncture systems from the Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award, among others.
